1. Prepare for operation 

1.1 Purpose and requirement of the surveillance activity is received from written or verbal instructions issued by supervisor.

1.2 Specifications of the tasks are confirmed and where necessary clarified with supervisor.

1.3 Surveillance equipment  required for the task is identified and selected.

1.4 Surveillance equipment is checked for serviceability in accordance with standard procedures .

2. Prepare and maintain a location 

2.1 Designated position is occupied, reference points are established and information is documented.

2.2 Surveillance equipment is deployed in accordance with supervisor’s directions and standard procedures.

2.3 Optimal configuration  is confirmed with supervisor.

2.4 Equipment is tested to ensure functionality and is confirmed with the control facility.

2.5 Site is camouflaged.

2.6 Communications are maintained with stakeholders.

2.7 Operational maintenance  is conducted as required.

Assessment must confirm the ability to:

• interpret directions from supervisors
• select the appropriate configuration and location of remote sensors
• physical install and maintain remote sensors
• maximise the desired coverage of hostile areas

Consistency in performance 

Competency should be demonstrated over time and across a range of simulated or actual workplace situations deploying equipment in a number of different environments.
